Inbound
Read this if: you have, or soon will have, inbound or self-serve traffic to convert. Skip if: you have no inbound flow yet.
By the time a buyer reaches you, an agent already shaped their shortlist. They did half their research with an LLM, they arrive impatient, and they convert at far higher rates if you respond fast and smart. Inbound is no longer worked by a queue of people. It's a system that triages, enriches, and responds in seconds, with humans entering only where they're non-linear.
What's changed
Buyers expect a sub-five-minute response. They were just talking to an LLM that answered instantly. Speed-to-lead moved from a marginal win to a default expectation, and missing it loses the deal to whoever answered first.
Enrichment is instant. The moment a form is submitted, a workflow pulls firmographic, technographic, and behavioral data and attaches it to the lead before any human sees it. The twenty-minute "let me research this lead" step now takes seconds.
Pre-call briefs write themselves. A workflow reads the prospect's LinkedIn, the company's recent posts, and prior interactions, and produces a one-page brief for this specific call. The brief is only as good as the context your OS can feed it.
Do this
- Build a sub-two-minute response loop. Lead enters CRM, enrichment runs, routing fires, first touch goes out, automated. The human shows up when the prospect responds. This is the single biggest lever in the chapter.
- Use AI to qualify, and not only to route. Two or three smart follow-up questions in the first response capture signal before a human looks.
- Generate the pre-call brief automatically, landing thirty minutes before every call without anyone remembering to trigger it.
- Measure form-to-meeting and meeting-to-opportunity. Form-fill volume is meaningless without conversion context.
Don't do this
- Don't add twenty form fields to qualify upfront. Capture the minimum, then enrich in the workflow. Every field you replace with enrichment is conversion you get back.
- Don't deploy a site chatbot without testing what it actually says, and re-test monthly. Gate it to high-intent pages.
- Don't let AI replace the human on the decision-phase call. Automate the speed and the enrichment; keep the human for the conversation that needs judgment.
In practice
The new-physics version of inbound is often no form at all. Cursor became the fastest software company to $100M ARR almost entirely through self-serve signup. The product is the inbound motion, qualifying and converting developers with no human in the loop until an account is large enough to expand. Before you optimize form-to-meeting, ask whether your highest-converting inbound is simply letting people start using the product. (Market example.)
Your first 30 days
- ☐ Measure your current speed-to-lead honestly. Most teams are far slower than they think.
- ☐ Strip the form to the minimum and wire one automated loop: lead in, enrich, route, first touch out in under two minutes.
- ☐ Put form-to-meeting and meeting-to-opp on a weekly dashboard; retire form-fill volume as a headline metric.
